To the naked eye, an AR Business Card looks and feels just like a traditional card. But when a viewer scans the QR code on the back of the card using a smartphone camera, their device will launch a digital 3D experience that displays text, links, media, or whatever else you want, hovering on or around your physical card. Think Pokémon Go, meets your business card. The viewer can move or tilt the card around, and the projection will move with your card because their phone will visualize your business card’s location and position.

The front of your card will look like a traditional business card, and the back will be the AR component. The backside will contain a QR code which the user scans. This tells their phone that it should open a browser window and use the phone camera to look for the card’s backside design. Once the phone sees the image of the back side of the card, it will start displaying your AR card experience. The user can then interact with the content in your experience, such as menus, links, and media by tapping on their phone screen or making the physical card around.

Once you provide us with the content for your AR business card, we will send you images of your business card within the listed production time with the launcher QR code added in. You’ll be able to print this card design whenever you like. You’ll also get the image of the QR code, in case you want to add it to the design on your own.

No. The AR experience launches from a smartphone’s native camera app which is already installed on the device. The tech supports devices running iOS 8.0 and later (released in 2014) and Android 4.1 and later (released in 2012).

The cards are supported on iOS devices starting from 5th generation iPads and iPhone SE (released in 2016) and devices running Android 7.0 or later (Android 7.0 was released in 2016).

There’s no impact at all if someone writes on the front of the card, and usually, the back side has a vividly colored design, which will nudge the viewer to take notes on the front. However, even if they jot down a few notes on the backside, the experience will still function. Unless they get out a sharpie or a crayon and really make an art project out of your card (significantly changing the color scheme or major shapes on the card), it will still work!
